Catch Me in the Kitchen Company Mandate Company Mandate Catch Me in the Kitchen aims to create, develop, and produce new work in live theatre and audio stories for young audiences. Our work celebrates the magic of the storytelling art form , creating new stories and reimagining well-loved tales. We endeavour to be inclusive to all, bring delight and learning to a contemporary audience, and inspire the next generation of storytellers and theatre-goers.

In the beginning: play-doh and burnt granola A note from Producer Ginette Mohr Several years ago, I found myself struggling with the fatigue that accompanies new motherhood. There were joys for sure, but it was in the kitchen where I felt most overwhelmed. Snapshots from my kitchen: Putting the milk in the cupboard and the cereal in the fridge. Scrambling to silence the smoke detector and knocking a glass jar of honey off the counter. Helping the kids make pretend puppy food out of play-doh and later fishing it out of the dog’s mouth. Painting with the kids and dipping my brush in my tea. Thinking the gingerbread house tastes like cardboard and then noticing it was cardboard. At these times, connecting with friends was like a lifeline. Meeting for lunch, describing our kitchen blunders and laughing until our bellies ached, helped me feel less alone. Catch Me in the Kitchen unfolded as a creative response to the challenges of caregiving. Through our projects, we hope, wholeheartedly, to provide delight, learning, and connection. I’m incredibly proud of our work in creating our Audio Adventures and our Audio Snacks . I hope you have as much fun listening to these as we have making them. I owe a debt of gratitude to my collaborator Stephen LaFrenie and director Liz Pounsett. We've been delighted by the warm response to our recent stage adaptation, Catch Me in the Kitchen Story Adventures . A special thank you to my friend Chantale Groulx. Her story creations inspire me. While performing with her I learned the craft and lasting impact of storytelling. Through play, I continue to discover how to create magical landscapes of characters - and that even the simplest stories are so satisfying! I believe in the power of storytelling to create collective experiences of joy and wonder, and I am incredibly excited to see how Catch Me in the Kitchen continues to spark new adventures at home and beyond.
